Three shows tonight (Saturday), live from LA. The headliner is Otis Heat, scheduled to take the stage at 11:30 p.m. All Times Pacific. Otis Heat, a bluesy three-piece from Portland, has one of the more wild origin stories we’ve heard in a minute. While traveling in separate cars, two of the three (soon-to-be) bandmates suffered a near-fatal crash with one another and were helped out by a mysterious drifter that they think was named, yes, Otis Heat. Basically, we have a band as dedication to a mysterious Pacific Northwest character that no one is sure exists in the first place….Part Black Keys and part woozy funk that could care less about scoring underground points. Opening the night’s show at 9pm will be Jamestown Revival. Formed by Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance, the band is two-man rock & roll, characterized as “indie-rock with a southern slant”. Drawing on influences ranging from The Band, to Simon and Garfunkle, Jamestown Revival’s sound is harmony driven and rooted in southern soul. The two are childhood friends, and the chemistry is evident when seeing them perform. Formed in 2011, the band has been featured on the Carson Daly Show, as well as Rolling Stone Magazine. With a self-produced EP that reached #12 on the iTunes charts, the duo has criss-crossed the country, playing everywhere from dive bars to amphitheaters. Expect a follow up full-length album this year (2012). Join the livestream at www.showgo.tv/clubs/themintla.
